Eligibility Criteria
Tamil Nadu NEET UG 2025 – Eligibility Criteria
1. Nationality & Domicile
- The candidate must be an Indian Citizen.
- Nativity Requirement:
- Candidates claiming Tamil Nadu nativity must submit a Nativity Certificate issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
- Permanent Residence Certificate will not be accepted as proof of nativity.
- Candidates who have studied from Class VI to XII in Tamil Nadu need to submit both a Nativity Certificate and a Community Certificate.
- If a candidate has studied outside Tamil Nadu (even partially), they must submit both Nativity and Community Certificates.
- Candidates belonging to other states but studying in Tamil Nadu cannot claim nativity.
2. Age Limit
- Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2025.
- There is no upper age limit for NEET UG 2025 as per the latest guidelines.
3. Educational Qualification
Candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with the following subjects:
- Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English (Passed individually).
- The minimum qualifying marks in PCB aggregate:
- General/EWS – 50%
- SC/ST/OBC-NCL – 40%
- PwD (General Category) – 45%
- PwD (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) – 40%
- Candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open Schools or as Private Candidates are not eligible.
- Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject at the 10+2 level is not permissible.
4. NEET UG 2025 Qualification
Candidates must qualify NEET UG 2025 with the following minimum percentile:
- General/EWS – 50th percentile
- SC/ST/OBC-NCL – 40th percentile
- PwD (General Category) – 45th percentile
- PwD (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) – 40th percentile The eligibility cutoff may be lowered by the Government of India if required.
5. Tamil Nadu State Quota Eligibility
- 85% of government medical and dental college seats are reserved for Tamil Nadu Domicile Candidates.
- Candidates must have studied Class VI to XII in Tamil Nadu or provide a valid Nativity Certificate.
- Children of Central Government employees who have served in Tamil Nadu for at least three years can apply under the State Quota.
- Ex-Servicemen Wards and Defense Personnel Wards serving in Tamil Nadu are eligible under the State Quota, provided they submit the required documents.
6. Eligibility for Management & NRI Quota
- Management Quota:
- Candidates from any state in India can apply.
- No caste-based or PwD reservation in Management Quota seats.
- NRI Quota:
- 15% seats in private medical/dental colleges are reserved for NRI candidates.
- Candidates must submit:
- Valid Passport & Visa
- Sponsorship Affidavit from an NRI guardian
- Financial Proof for the entire course duration
7. Non-Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates who have already joined MBBS/BDS in Tamil Nadu or other states/countries cannot apply again.
- If a candidate submits false documents (Nativity Certificate, Community Certificate, etc.), their admission will be canceled and legal action will be taken.
- Candidates failing to submit eligibility certificates from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (if applicable) will be rejected.

- Candidates must upload all required documents during online application submission.
- Incomplete applications or late submission will not be considered.

Tamil Nadu NEET UG 2025 Counselling Reservation Policy
The Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee follows the State Government's reservation policy for MBBS/BDS seat allocation under Government Quota in Government and Private Medical/Dental Colleges. Reservation applies only to Tamil Nadu domicile candidates under the State Quota.

4. NRI Quota – Separate Eligibility & Seat Allocation
- 15% of private/self-financing medical college seats are reserved for NRI candidates.
- No caste-based or PwD reservation in the NRI Quota.

Unfilled NRI seats are converted to Management Quota seats.
5. Conversion of Reserved Seats (If Vacant)
- If ST seats remain vacant, they are converted to SC.
- If SC seats remain vacant, they are converted to MBC/DNC.
- If MBC/DNC seats remain vacant, they are converted to BC.
- If BC/BCM seats remain vacant, they are converted to Open Category (UR).
