Counselling Process
GIMS Counselling Process for MBBS
Admission to the MBBS program at Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida is conducted through two counselling processes:
- All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling – Conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for 15% of the seats.
- Uttar Pradesh State Quota Counselling – Conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh for 85% of the seats.

- Provide personal details, NEET UG details, and pay the registration fee.
- After successful registration, candidates can fill and lock their choices of medical colleges, including GIMS, Greater Noida.
Step 2: Round 1 – Seat Allotment and Reporting
- MCC releases the first round of seat allotment results based on NEET UG rank, category, and seat availability.
- Candidates who are allotted a seat at GIMS must:
- Download the allotment letter.
- Report to GIMS within the specified timeframe for document verification and admission formalities.
- Pay the admission fee and complete the joining formalities.
- Candidates who do not wish to accept the allotted seat can either:
- Opt for upgradation to Round 2.
- Exit from counselling without forfeiting their security deposit.
Step 3: Round 2 – Seat Allotment and Reporting
- If seats remain vacant after Round 1, MCC conducts Round 2.
- Candidates who registered in Round 1 but did not get a seat can participate.
- New registrations are also allowed in this round.
- The process of choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting is the same as Round 1.
- If a candidate is allotted a seat in Round 2, they must join the allocated college as per the MCC guidelines.
- Candidates exiting counselling after Round 2 will forfeit their security deposit.
Step 4: Mop-Up Round (Final Round for AIQ)
- If seats remain vacant after Round 2, MCC conducts a mop-up round.
- Fresh registrations are allowed for this round.
- The same process of choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting applies.
- Candidates who are allotted a seat in the mop-up round must mandatorily join the college.
Step 5: Stray Vacancy Round (if required)
- If any AIQ seats remain vacant after the mop-up round, they are transferred to the Uttar Pradesh State Quota and filled in the state-level stray vacancy round.
2. Uttar Pradesh State Quota Counselling (85% Seats) – Conducted by DMET, UP
Step 1: Registration and Choice Filling
- Candidates must register on the UP NEET counselling portal (upneet.gov.in).
- Fill in personal, academic, and NEET UG details.
- Pay the registration fee and security deposit (refundable if no seat is allotted).
- Once registration is complete, candidates can fill and lock their preferred choices, including GIMS.
Step 2: Round 1 – Seat Allotment and Reporting
- The first seat allotment list is published based on NEET UG rank, category, and preferences.
- Candidates who are allotted a seat at GIMS must:
- Download the allotment letter from the UP NEET portal.

- Candidates who are allotted a seat in the mop-up round must mandatorily join.
Step 5: Stray Vacancy Round (if required)
- If seats remain vacant after the mop-up round, a state-level stray vacancy round is conducted.
- The college directly fills the remaining seats based on merit and counselling guidelines.

- Seat Upgradation:
- Candidates who are allotted a seat in Round 1 can opt for upgradation in Round 2.
- Once upgraded, the previously allotted seat is automatically cancelled.
- Security Deposit Refund:
- If a candidate does not get a seat, the security deposit is refunded.
- Reporting and Admission Formalities:
- Candidates must report to GIMS with original documents within the specified timeline.
- Failure to report on time may lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.
