BRD Medical College Gorakhpur is one of the most important medical colleges in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. It was started in 1969 and is located in the Purvanchal region. The college is named after Baba Raghav Das, a well-known freedom fighter and social worker.

In 1972, the first batch of 50 MBBS students was admitted. The college began to grow quickly under the guidance of its first principal, Prof. P.L. Shukla.

Today, the college offers both MBBS and postgraduate (PG) medical courses. Students get practical experience at the attached Nehru Hospital, which has more than 800 beds and treats many patients every day.
