About
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, was approved in February 2009 as part of the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Sawasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) with a budget of Rs. 823 crore. The State Government decided to give 148 acres of land. A notice was published on August 13, 2013, to set up the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Rae Bareli. In July 2013, the Uttar Pradesh Government handed over 97 acres of land from the accepted total of 148 acres to the Central Government for building AIIMS Rae Bareli. The State Government is currently working on acquiring the last 51 acres of land, which should be available soon. The Ministry hired HSCC (India) Ltd as the project management expert in July 2013.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOH&FW) has selected Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh as the mentor Institute for AIIMS, Raebareli. The Director, PGIMER has been given added task of Director, AIIMS, Raebareli.All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raebareli was created as autonomous school and institute of National importance through the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Act, passed in 2013.
