    Counselling Stages Explained

The revised schedule provides clear, extended windows for each step. The table below breaks down each stage, its significance, and the recommended action plan.

    Counselling StageWhat It Is
    1. Registration & Payment
    (Nov 6 - Nov 14, 2025)
Your official entry into the UP state counselling process. This 9-day window is for filling the online form and paying the requisite fees.
What It Means For YouThe extended period reduces first-day server rush, giving you breathing room. Procrastination is your biggest enemy here.
Your Action Plan• Gather all documents in advance (NEET PG Admit Card, MBBS Degree, ID Proof, Domicile/Category Certificate).
    • Aim to complete registration and payment by November 12th to create a 2-day buffer for any issues.
    2. Merit List Declaration
    (November 14, 2025)
The publication of the official state merit rank list, which determines your priority during seat allotment.
What It Means For YouThis is your reality check. It tells you your standing among all UP candidates, allowing for a realistic assessment of potential colleges.
Your Action Plan• Download the merit list as soon as it is released.
    • Identify your exact rank and start shortlisting colleges based on previous years' cut-off trends for your rank range.
    3. Choice Filling & Locking
    (Nov 15 - Nov 24, 2025)
The most critical strategic stage. A 10-day window to select and prioritize your preferred colleges and courses from the UP seat matrix.
What It Means For YouThe long duration is a strategic gift. It allows for deep research and careful list-building, moving from "dream" to "safe" choices. Locking is mandatory.
Your Action Plan• Do NOT fill choices on the first day. First, research all colleges.
    • Create a draft list and refine it over several days.
MANDATORY: Lock your choices before the Nov 24th, 11 AM deadline and save the confirmation slip.
    4. Allotment Result
    (November 26, 2025)
The declaration of the Round 1 seat allotment based on your rank, choices, and seat availability.
What It Means For YouThis is your outcome. You will be allotted a seat, which you can then accept, or you may not be allotted one, in which case you prepare for Round 2.
Your Action Plan• Log in to the official portal to check your result.
    • Download your Provisional Allotment Letter immediately if allotted.
    5. Admission & Reporting
    (Nov 27-29 & Dec 1-5, 2025)
The final, mandatory step to physically report to the allotted college, verify original documents, and pay fees to secure your admission.
What It Means For YouThis is not optional. Failure to report means automatic seat cancellation and forfeiture of your security fee. The split slots help manage crowd flow.
Your Action Plan• Check your allotment letter for your specific reporting slot.
    • Arrange all original documents and the institutional fee in advance.
Travel and report in person within your assigned dates.

    Revised Timeline Impact

The extended deadlines can be used for success.

OpportunityPotential IssuesHow to Avoid the Issues
More time for research during choice filling.Procrastination leading to last-minute rushed choices.Create a preliminary choice list as soon as the seat matrix is out. Use the extra days for refinement, not initiation.
Reduced server errors due to staggered logins.Complacency in believing you have "plenty of time," leading to missed deadlines.Set personal deadlines 2 days before the actual portal closure for each phase.
Better financial planning for the fee payment.Forgetting that registration and payment end on the same day.Complete both registration and payment in a single sitting as soon as your documents are ready.

    Allotment & Admission

The result declaration on November 26, 2025, will be followed by an 8-day admission window split into two slots.

    • Slot 1 (Nov 27-29): Likely for higher-merit candidates or specific college groups.
    • Slot 2 (Dec 1-5): For the remaining allotted candidates.

Plan: As soon as you get your allotment letter, check your reporting slot. Immediately start arranging for the original documents and the institutional fee.

Physical reporting is mandatory to confirm your seat.

    FAQs

I am from another state but did my MBBS in UP. Am I eligible for UP state quota counselling?

Eligibility for the state quota is typically based on domicile. If you possess a valid UP domicile certificate, you are eligible. If not, you might only be eligible for the All India Quota seats or the institutional quota seats in your MBBS college.

What is the difference between the two admission slots (Nov 27-29 and Dec 1-5)?

The split is primarily for administrative convenience to avoid overcrowding at reporting centers. Your allotment letter will specify your exact reporting slot. It is crucial to report only during your assigned dates.

If I get a seat in Round 1, can I upgrade it in Round 2?

Yes. If you take admission in Round 1, you remain eligible for Round 2. You can choose the "Float" option during Round 1 reporting, which means you accept the seat but will be considered for an upgrade to a better preference in Round 2.

What happens if I miss the choice locking deadline on November 24th?

If you do not actively lock your choices by the deadline, the system will not consider any of the colleges you selected for allotment. This is equivalent to not participating in the round. Always lock your choices and save the confirmation slip.

    Is the security fee refundable?

The security fee is refunded only if you are not allotted any seat in the counselling process or if you resign from a seat before the start of Round 1. If you take a seat and then resign after the stipulated period, the fee is forfeited.
