    Introduction

The NEET UG Medical & Dental Admission/Counselling Board, Rajasthan, has released the Round 3 schedule for NEET UG 2026 (MBBS/BDS) counselling, issued in compliance with the state schedule released by MCC. This round has a fair number of specific rules depending on your current status, whether you're a fresh candidate, already registered, already allotted a seat, or resigned earlier, so it's worth reading carefully rather than assuming the same rule applies to everyone.

Who Needs To Register For Round 3?

Already registered candidates don't need to register again. If you registered in Round 1 or Round 2, you're already in the system.

Candidates registered in Round 1 or Round 2 who haven't completed Part 2 of the application can complete it now during this window.

Candidates who fall under Clause XI ("Other") of the eligibility criteria — meaning non-domicile, out-of-Rajasthan candidates not covered under Clauses I to X — also need to fill the application form/register if they haven't already.

Candidates who were allotted or upgraded a seat in Round 2 but didn't join or report (and whose security amount was forfeited as a result) must re-register, fill a fresh application, pay the application fee again, and deposit the security amount again if they wish to participate in Round 3.

Fresh Choice Filling Is Mandatory For Everyone Who Wants To Participate

This is genuinely the most important rule in this entire schedule, and it applies regardless of your Round 1 or Round 2 status.

Choices filled in Round 1 or Round 2 will not carry forward into Round 3. They're scrapped entirely. If you want to be considered for allotment or upgradation in Round 3, you must fill fresh choices; this applies whether you were allotted a seat earlier, joined a seat earlier, or weren't allotted anything at all.

The only exception: if you currently have "Joined" status (up to Round 2) and you do not wish to upgrade, you're happy to retain your current seat; you don't need to fill choices in Round 3 at all. Your existing seat simply continues as it is.

So the real question to ask yourself is: do you want to try for something better in Round 3? If yes, you must fill fresh choices, with no exceptions based on your past round's status. If no, and you already have a joined seat you're satisfied with, you can simply sit this round out and keep what you have.

Who Specifically Must Fill Choices To Participate?

According to the notification, these categories of candidates need to fill choices if they want to be part of Round 3 allotment:

    1. Registered candidates who didn't get allotment in Round 1 or Round 2
    2. Registered candidates with "Joined" status who wish to upgrade
    3. Candidates who got allotment in Round 1 and resigned without forfeiture of security amount (resigned by 16 September 2026, 5:00 PM)
    4. Newly registered candidates
    5. Re-registered candidates
    6. Candidates under Clause XI "Other" (All India candidates), considered against vacant seats remaining after the State Merit list candidates under Clauses I to X are exhausted

    Security Deposit Amounts

The security deposit required depends on the type of seat and college you're choosing:

₹50,000 — for UR/EWS, SC/ST/ST-STA/OBC/MBC candidates opting for a Government Seat (MBBS) in Government Medical Colleges, Government Society Medical Colleges, RUHS CMS, and ESIC MC

₹2,00,000 — for candidates opting for a Management Seat (MBBS) in Government Society Colleges and RUHS CMS

₹5,00,000 — for candidates opting for an NRI Seat (MBBS) in Government Colleges, Government Society Colleges, and RUHS CMS

₹5,00,000 — for candidates opting for MBBS in Private Medical Colleges

₹10,000 — for candidates opting only for BDS in Government Dental College, RUHS CDS, and Private Dental Colleges

Candidates depositing ₹2,00,000 or ₹5,00,000 automatically become eligible to also fill choices for Government Medical/Dental Colleges, Government Society Medical Colleges, RUHS CMS, RUHS CDS, ESIC MC, and Private Dental Colleges.

If you already deposited the applicable security amount in Round 1 or Round 2 (and it wasn't forfeited), you don't need to deposit it again, unless you want to deposit the difference for a higher category of seat. If your security deposit was forfeited due to non-joining in Round 2, or you didn't deposit it earlier, you must deposit it fresh now to be considered for allotment.

What To Keep In Mind While Filling Choices?

The notification specifically advises candidates to fill choices keeping in mind both real vacancies and virtual vacancies. The projected seat matrix after Round 2 allotment and joining reflects only real (confirmed) vacancies at that point. But virtual vacancies — arising from upgradation of already-joined candidates, or from exhaustion of NRI/PwBD/PwD/category-specific candidate pools- can convert into real vacancies during the allotment process itself, or even arise later due to resignations after the Round 3 result of MCC.

In simple terms: don't limit your choices only to what looks currently vacant. Fill your preferences as per the Round 1 seat matrix pattern, since more seats can genuinely open up than what's visible at the start of Round 3.

What Happens If You Don't Join After Round 3 Allotment?

This is worth taking seriously. If you're allotted a seat (fresh or upgraded) in Round 3 and you don't join it, your security amount will be forfeited, and you will not be eligible to participate in any further round.

Also worth knowing: once you have "Joined" status after Round 3, you won't be allowed to participate in any further round at all, even if you wanted to try for an upgrade later.

A Note On Resigning After Round 3

If you join a course through Round 3 allotment, or retain a seat you were allotted in an earlier round, you will not be allowed to resign the course (including returning original documents) on or before the last date of admissions as scheduled by MCC/NMC/DCI, and applicable bond conditions will apply. This is a firm condition — once you're in through Round 3 or continuing from an earlier round into Round 3, walking away isn't a straightforward option within this timeline.

    Verification Requirements For Specific Categories

Defence/Para Military and NRI candidates must be physically present for certificate verification before the admission board on 5 October 2026, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, as per the official notification.

PwBD/PwD candidates must upload their Eligibility Certificate issued from an MCC-designated centre. Participation under this category is subject to online verification of the uploaded certificate, and the original certificate must be brought at the time of joining/reporting, along with other original documents. Check mcc.nic.in regularly for the list of designated centres.

    Editing Your Application

Part 2, and Part 1 partially, of the application form is editable until final submission at 10:00 PM on 3 October 2026. If you need to apply for a change or correction in Part 1 — including caste and additional category details — both fresh and already registered candidates can do so between 23 September and 3 October 2026, by sending a duly signed handwritten application along with a self-attested photocopy of relevant documents, from your registered email.

    What To Do Right Now?

Decide clearly whether you want to participate in Round 3 or retain your existing joined seat — this determines whether you need to fill fresh choices at all.

If you're participating, fill fresh choices between 24 September and 7 October, keeping in mind that Round 1/Round 2 choices don't carry forward, and choices auto-lock at 11:45 PM on 7 October.

Deposit your security amount by 5:00 PM on 7 October, checking first whether you already have a valid deposit from an earlier round or need to pay fresh/the difference.

If you're a Defence/Para Military or NRI candidate, be present for physical certificate verification on 5 October, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

If you're a PwBD/PwD candidate, upload your MCC-designated Eligibility Certificate and keep the original ready for reporting.

If you need a correction to Part 1 details, send your signed application and documents to their registered mail within the 23 September to 3 October window.

If allotted, complete tuition fee payment and reporting between 11 and 15 October, keeping the tighter cut-off times (12:30 PM and 2:00 PM, respectively) in mind rather than the full day.

    Documents You Should Keep Ready

    • NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard
    • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates
    • Rajasthan domicile certificate, if applicable
    • Category certificate, if applicable
    • PwBD/PwD Eligibility Certificate (MCC-designated), if applicable
    • Defence/Para Military/NRI supporting documents, if applicable
    • Security deposit payment proof
    • A valid government photo ID
    • Recent passport-size photographs

    FAQs

Do I need to register again for Round 3 if I already registered earlier?

No, already registered candidates don't need to register again. Only fresh candidates, or those who didn't complete Part 2 earlier, need to take action here.

Will my Round 1 or Round 2 choices carry forward to Round 3?

No. All previously filled choices are scrapped. You must fill fresh choices to be considered for Round 3 allotment or upgradation.

I already have a joined seat and don't want to upgrade, do I need to do anything?

No. If you have "Joined" status and don't wish to upgrade, you don't need to fill choices in Round 3; your current seat continues as is.

What if I don't join my Round 3 allotted seat?

Your security amount will be forfeited, and you won't be eligible to participate in any further round.

Can I resign after joining through Round 3?

No. Once you join through Round 3 allotment, or retain an earlier seat through Round 3, you cannot resign before the last admission date fixed by MCC/NMC/DCI, and bond conditions apply.

    When does choice filling close?

Choices auto-lock at 11:45 PM on 7 October 2026, after the filling window opens on 24 September.

What's the reporting deadline if I'm allotted a seat?

Reporting is accepted between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM from 11 to 15 October, with the final cut-off at 2:00 PM on 15 October 2026.

    Final Thoughts

Rajasthan's Round 3 schedule has one rule that overrides almost everything else: your earlier choices no longer count, and if you want any shot at Round 3 allotment or an upgrade, you must submit fresh choices within this window. The only candidates exempt from this are those happy to simply retain their current joined seat without upgrading.

Beyond that, pay close attention to your specific security deposit status, the verification requirements if you're Defence/Para Military, NRI, or PwBD/PwD, and the firm consequences of forfeiture and round-lockout if you don't join after being allotted.

If you're unsure whether you need to fill fresh choices, confused about your security deposit status from an earlier round, or want help deciding whether to try for an upgrade in Round 3, reaching out to a trusted NEET counselling expert can help you avoid a costly oversight.
