The fourth step in this process is about the process of seat allotment, and in this round, it will commence on Dec 15th and end on Dec 16th, 2025. Read on for a detailed look at this stage.

Key Highlights

| Purpose | It is the automated process where the system matches your rank and your list of locked choices to assign available seats. |
| Workings |
1. The system checks your NEET PG rank. 2. It goes through your list of locked choices in the order you placed them. 3. You are allocated the highest-preference seat available for your rank. 4. The results are published in your MCC candidate portal. |
| Outcomes: |
- Upgrade: You are allotted a seat you prefer over one you may have from a previous round. - New Seat: Who didn’t get a seat or resigned must register again. - No Upgrade: Your current seat (from a previous round) remains your best available option. - No Seat: Those seeking a better seat must also register and pay. |

Seat Allotment Process
Think of it like an automatic matching system:
- You submit your ranked list of preferred colleges
- The computer starts with the highest-ranking student
- It gives them their first available choice
- Then it moves to the next student, and so on
- You get the highest-choice seat available for your rank
- Results are published online
Why Round 3 Can Be Better
More Realistic Choices
- You now know which seats were taken in Rounds 1 & 2
- You can see exactly which colleges and courses are still available
- No more guessing - you have actual data
Safer Upgrading
- If you already have a seat from Round 2, you can try for a better one without risk
- You only lose your current seat if you get a better one
- It's a "free chance" to improve
Less Competition
- Many top-rank students already got seats in earlier rounds
- The remaining candidates are often more focused on specific locations or colleges
- Your chances might be better for popular colleges that had seats declined
Better Strategy
- You've seen two rounds of results, so you understand the pattern
- You can make smarter choices based on actual cutoffs
- No more trial and error
Fresh Opportunities
- New seats often appear as students resign or don't join
- Some colleges add new seats between rounds
- You might get a college that wasn't available earlier
Round 3 is where smart strategy really pays off because you have more information and often better opportunities than in the early, more chaotic rounds.
Result Announcement
- The Wait: MCC takes a few days to run the complex seat-matching algorithm. This is a waiting period with no action required from you.
- The Publication: On a pre-announced date, the seat allotment results are published on the official MCC website. You must log into your candidate portal to check your personal result.
- The Outcome: When you check, you will see one of these results:
- Upgraded: You have been allotted a new seat that is better than your previous one.
- Allotted: You have been given a seat for the first time.
- Not Upgraded: Your previous seat remains your best-allotted option.
- Not Allotted: No seat could be assigned to you based on your choices and rank.
- The Crucial Part: This is not the end. The result is just an offer. You now have a short window to make your final decision: Accept (Freeze) the seat, choose to Upgrade (Float) for the next round, or Resign/Reject it. Your immediate action is required to secure your future.

FAQs
1. What if I don't get any seat in the allotment?
If you are "Not Allotted" a seat, you simply remain in the counselling process. You can participate in the next round (if any) with your existing registration or a fresh one, depending on MCC's instructions.
2. I got a seat. What are my options?
You have three choices:
- Freeze: Keep this seat and report to the college.
- Float: Accept this seat but remain eligible for an upgrade in the next round.
- Resign: Give up this seat entirely (may involve a penalty).
3. What is the difference between Freeze and Float?
- Freeze: You are happy with the seat and your counselling process ends.
- Float: You want a better seat. You will be considered for upgrades in the next round, but you risk losing your current seat if you get an upgrade.
4. Is the allotted seat final for my entire course?
No, the seat is only tentatively held for you. It becomes final only after you physically report to the allotted college, submit all original documents, and pay the tuition fee before the stated deadline.
5. Can I reject a seat after accepting it online?
Yes, but there are consequences. Rejecting a seat after accepting it online (Freeze/Float) usually means you will forfeit your security fee and may be blocked from participating in further counselling rounds for that academic year.
