    Introduction

So you've successfully navigated the choice-filling and locking process for Round 2 - well done! Now we enter the seat allotment process happening from November 25th to 26th, 2025.

I know you're constantly wondering, "Will I get a seat? Will it be better than my current one? What if I don't get anything?" Trust me, I've been there multiple times, and I understand every single one of those emotions.

Let me walk you through exactly what happens during these two crucial days. No technical complexities, no complicated explanations - just a friendly chat about what's really going on behind that MCC portal.

    Eligibility Criteria

Now, what are the qualifications one would need to even partake in this whole process?

    • Have qualified NEET PG Current year, conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE)
    • Have completed or are completing their MBBS internship by July 31st, 2025.
    • Possess a valid registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the respective State Medical Council

So if you meet the internal quota requirements for Central Universities if applying under such categories, then congratulations- you're eligible! Keep in mind, the eligibility for internal quotas is defined by the respective universities, not MCC.

    2025 Cut-Off

Category Minimum Eligibility Criteria 2025 Cutoff Score
    General / EWS 50th percentile 276
    General PwD 45th percentile 255
    SC / ST / OBC (including PwD of SC/ST/OBC) 40th percentile 235

    Seat Allotment Explained

    1. The way this works is that the student with the highest rank gets to choose first- so if their top choice of college has a seat in the course they want, then, just like that its theirs. Next, the system moves on to the next student aka the student with the second highest rank and the process keeps repeating.

    2. As seats get filled, the number of options available to students with lesser ranks keeps getting smaller and smaller. This is why your 15th choice might disappear even though you have a pretty good rank - someone with a better rank might have put it as their 14th choice and taken it.

    3. Category is important because if you're in the OBC category, you're only competing for OBC seats with other OBC students. This is also why that category certificate was so important during registration!

    Seat Allotment Factors

You might be wondering, "what all impacts what seat is allotted to me?".

The factors that majorly impact the process include-

    • Your NEET PG 2025 All India Rank
    • Your category (General/OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwD)
    • The order of choices you locked
    • Seat availability in your category

    Next Steps After Seat Allotment

Once the allotment process completes on November 26th, here's the timeline:

    November 26th:

    • Results declared on MCC portal
    • You need to login to check your status
    • Download allotment letter if you get a seat

    Then you have three options:

    1. Accept and Report - Take the seat and proceed to college
    2. Accept and Upgrade - Keep the seat but try for better in next round
    3. Resign and Exit - Decline the seat and leave counselling

    Final Advice

Friends, I want you to remember something important. However this round turns out, it's not the end of your medical journey. I've seen students:

    • Get no seat in Round 2 but their dream seat in Round 3
    • Start in a private college but transfer to government later
    • Excel in less-prestigious colleges and become brilliant doctors

Your college doesn't define your capability as a doctor. Your dedication, hard work, and compassion do.

    Conclusion

I know the waiting is hard. The uncertainty can be overwhelming. But you've already overcome the toughest challenge - clearing NEET PG. This counselling process is just the administrative part of your journey.

Take deep breaths, stay positive, and believe in the process. You've worked too hard to let anxiety steal your peace now.

    FAQs

Can I change my choices now?

Unfortunately no. The locking window has closed, and your choices are final for this round.

What if two students have the same rank?

MCC has tie-breaker rules, usually based on age or other criteria specified in their information bulletin.

Will I definitely get my first choice if my rank is good?

Not necessarily! Someone with a better rank might have also chosen your first preference. That's why filling multiple choices was so important.
