Introduction
Well, hello there, future PG residents! If you're reading this, you've successfully survived result day and now face the final phase - the reporting and joining period from November 9th to 15th.
We know you'll be showing up at the college with a folder full of documents, trying to look professional while secretly wondering if you have forgotten something important. But don't worry, I'm here to make sure you avoid any mistakes and sail through this final step smoothly.
This isn't just about showing up at a college - it's about making one of the biggest decisions of your medical career. So let's break it down together, one step at a time!

Before we get into the details, let's refer to this table to figure out where we are in this process-

For the reporting/joining round, the clock starts ticking the moment you see your result! Those seven days from November 9th to 15th will fly by faster than you'll probably even realize.
Eligibility Criteria
Curious about what the qualifiers even were to participate in this huge process? Well, you're in luck because here they are-
- Have qualified NEET PG Current year, conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE)
- Have completed or are completing their MBBS internship by July 31st, 2025.
- Possess a valid registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the respective State Medical Council
So if you meet the internal quota requirements for Central Universities if applying under such categories, then congratulations- you're eligible! Keep in mind, the respective universities decide what the criteria for eligibility should be for internal quotas, not MCC.

What Happens During This Round
Okay, this is decision time! You've got three options, and each has serious consequences:
Option A: Accept & Report
If you love your allotted seat, this is your path. You'll need to:
- Download and print your allotment letter
- Travel to the allotted college (yes, physically!)
- Carry ALL original documents
- Pay the fees and complete admission formalities
Option B: Accept for Upgrade
This is the "keep my options open" choice. You:
- Report to the current college and complete admission
- Pay the fees to secure your seat
- Remain eligible for Round 2 upgrading
- Can jump to a better seat if available in next round
Option C: Resign/Decline
If the seat isn't for you:
- Formally decline through MCC portal
- Get your security fee refund (minus processing charges)
- Wait for Round 2 with a clean slate

The Reporting Process - Step by Step
Let me walk you through what actually happens during reporting:
The Pre-Travel Checklist
Before you even book your tickets, make sure you have:
- Multiple printouts of your allotment letter
- Every original document known to medical kind
- Passport photos (take 8-10)
- Payment methods for fees (often demand drafts)
The College Arrival
When you reach the college:
- Head straight to the admission office
- Don't be late - college timings are strict!
- Keep your documents organized and accessible
- Be prepared for long queues (bring water and patience)
The Document Verification Marathon
This is where they check everything:
- NEET PG admit card and rank letter issued by NBE
- MBBS mark sheets and degree certificate
- Internship completion certificate (or proof that it will be completed by 31st July, 2025.)
- Registration certificate from NMC or State Medical Council
- Date of birth proof (high school certificate or birth certificate)
- Valid government-issued ID (Aadhaar, PAN card, Passport, etc.)
- Caste, EWS, or PwD certificate (if applicable)
- NRI sponsorship documents (if applying under NRI quota)
- MCC allotment letter
The Financial Part
Time to pay up! This usually includes:
- Tuition fees (varies wildly by college type)
- Hostel charges (if applicable)
- Other miscellaneous college fees
- Security deposits (refundable later)

Important Reminders
After helping hundreds of students through this process, here's what most people overlook:
Travel Planning:
- Book your tickets and accommodation EARLY
- Reach the city a day before reporting
- Account for traffic and unfamiliar locations
- Keep emergency contacts handy
Document Organization:
- Use a waterproof folder
- Make 3 sets of photocopies - you'll need them!
- Keep digital copies on your phone as backup
- Have extra passport photos than required
Financial Preparation:
- Check the exact fee structure on college website
- Prepare demand drafts in correct amounts
- Carry extra cash for unexpected expenses
- Keep your bank details handy for refunds
Mistakes To Avoid
Let me share some horror stories so you don't repeat them:
Forgetting crucial documents-
I once saw a student reach from another state without their internship completion certificate. They had to emergency courier it while begging the admission office for extra time. Don't be that person!
Wrong DD amount-
Another classic - preparing demand drafts for last year's fee amount. Colleges won't accept them, and you'll be scrambling to find a bank. Always check the CURRENT year's fees!
Category Certificate Confusion-
If you're using reservation, make sure your certificate is current and matches ALL your documents exactly. Even a small spelling difference can cause rejection.

FAQs
What if I can't reach the college by November 15th?
Sorry, but MCC is strict about deadlines. Unless you have a genuine emergency (with proof), you'll likely lose the seat. Plan to reach well before the 15th!
Can I send someone else to report for me?
Nope! Most colleges require personal presence for biometric verification and document checking. You've got to be there in person.
What happens to my security fee if I take admission?
It gets adjusted against your tuition fees! You don't lose that money - it just becomes part of your college payment.
If I choose upgrade but don't get better in Round 2, can I stay in my current college?
Yes! That's the beauty of the upgrade option. Your current seat remains safe until you actively choose to leave it for a better one.
