Introduction
Welcome back to another blog where we decode the various steps involved in the online counselling process for NEET PG Round 1!
Okay, so Round 1 is almost over. You’ve filled choices, maybe got a seat, maybe reported to a college. But MCC isn’t done just yet. Before they start Round 2, they do a final check which might sound excessive but is actually the step that ties off all the loose ends.
They call it Verification of Joined Candidates. Fancy term, simple idea: they’re making sure everyone who said they joined a college actually did. No fake entries, no mismatched data. Just clean, honest record-keeping.
Important Dates
Here's where we are at in the Round 1 online counselling process as of now-
| Event | Start Date | End Date |
|---|---|---|
| Verification of Tentative Seat Matrix by Participating Institutes | Oct 23, 2025 | Oct 23, 2025 |
| Registration / Payment | Oct 17, 2025 | Nov 5, 2025 |
| Choice Filling / Locking | Oct 28, 2025 | Nov 5, 2025 |
| Processing of Seat Allotment | Nov 6, 2025 | Nov 7, 2025 |
| Result | Nov 8, 2025 | Nov 8, 2025 |
| Reporting / Joining | Nov 9, 2025 | Nov 15, 2025 |
| Verification of Joined Candidates’ Data by Institutes, Sharing of Data to MCC | Nov 16, 2025 | Nov 18, 2025 |
The verification process is actually pretty short- just 2 days. But this is important to figure out how Round 2 will turn up for everyone.

Eligibility Criteria
This phase isn't something you actively participate in, but it's good to know who's involved:
- Colleges: All participating medical colleges that admitted students through Round 1
- Students: Candidates who actually joined their allotted colleges
- MCC: The coordinating body that verifies the final data
If you reported to your college and completed admission formalities, your data is part of this verification. Even if you took admission but are hoping for an upgrade in Round 2, your current seat status needs to be verified.
What is This Verification Process?
Let me break down what actually happens during these two days:
College-Level Compilation (16th Nov)
Your college admins sit with their lists, checking who’s really there. Did you complete fees? Submit docs? Show up? Or did you just… ghost them? They make a master list. Simple.
Data Upload (18th Nov Morning)
Colleges upload everything to MCC’s portal. Now, we all know how that goes. Portals crash, internet slows—typical website issues. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!
MCC Verification (18th Nov Afternoon)
MCC matches college data with their own records. Think of it like a matchmaking round—but for students and seats. “Yep, this one’s taken. That one’s free.”
Vacancy Identification (18th Nov Evening)
By evening, MCC knows exactly which seats are empty. Those become the new seats for Round 2. Game on!
Why This Round Matters
You might wonder why this backend process should matter to you. This is why-
| For | Impact |
|---|---|
| Students Who Joined | This verification officially locks in your admission. Once your college confirms you've joined, your seat is secure for Round 1. |
| Students Who Chose To Upgrade | The accuracy of this data directly affects your upgrade chances in Round 2. Every time a seat vacancy is properly verified, it means a new opportunity to upgrade your seat presents itself to you. |
| Round 2 Candidates | The vacancies identified during this verification become the available seats for Round 2. Inaccurate data means missed opportunities for waiting candidates. |
| The System | This process makes sure the counselling system has followed all rules and policies well. It ensures fairness and transparency for everyone involved. |

Effects of This Round
The verification process creates ripple effects throughout the counselling ecosystem:
Immediate Impact:
- Finalizes Round 1 admissions officially
- Identifies actual vacancies for Round 2
- Fixes any data mismatches or errors
For Colleges:
- Reveals their actual student intake numbers
- Affects their decision making process of where to allot what resources and planning
- Impacts their standing with MCC for future counselling rounds
For Students:
- Provides resolution for Round 1 participants
- Creates new opportunities for Round 2 candidates
- Ensures everyone gets what they rightfully deserve
Long-term Effects:
- Helps MCC improve future counselling processes
- Maintains trust in the system
- Ensures fair allocation of precious PG seats
Brief Info About Round 2
Once verification wraps up, MCC gets ready for Round 2. Here’s the usual drill:
Fresh seat matrix – Based on real, verified vacancies. It includes any new seats that might have been added
New schedule – Registration, choice filling, all of it.
Upgrade chances – If you took a seat but want a better one, this is your shot. But remember – your current seat remains blocked until you get and accept an upgrade.
So don’t wander off—stay tuned!
Important Instructions
Even though this is a backend process, there are things you should keep in mind:
- If you joined a college, keep your docs and fee receipts handy. Just in case.
- If you’re upgrading or waiting for Round 2, keep checking the MCC website. Like, every day.
- Don’t believe random WhatsApp forwards. Stick to official info.
- And please… be patient. Good things take time. And verification is one of them.

FAQs
What if my college makes a mistake in reporting my joining status?
Colleges are usually careful, but errors can happen. If you suspect an error, contact your college administration immediately. They can correct it during the verification window.
I took admission but want to upgrade. Will I lose my current seat during verification?
No! The verification process actually secures your current seat. If you've opted for an upgrade, your seat remains yours until you get and accept a better one in Round 2.
How will I know if my joining has been verified successfully?
While there's no direct notification, if your college has accepted you and you've completed all formalities, you can assume verification will be successful. For peace of mind, you can check with your college administration.
What happens to seats where students took admission but then left?
These are added to the vacancy pool for Round 2, but the student may face penalties under MCC rules.
Can I still participate in Round 2 if I didn't join my Round 1 seat?
Yes! Not joining in Round 1 means your seat becomes vacant, and you can freshly participate in Round 2 (though you might lose your security fee).
How long after verification does Round 2 begin?
Usually within a week. MCC needs time to compile the new seat matrix and announce the schedule.
