Registering doesn't guarantee you a seat. The notice specifically states that mere registration does not confer any right to admission. Your admission depends on you meeting all eligibility conditions, your original documents being verified, and seats actually being available.

Who Can Participate in Maharashtra MDS CAP Counselling?

Step-by-step registration Details

Step 1: Online Registration And Session Apply

Window: 20 August to 24 August, up to 8:00 PM

Step 2: Payment Of Registration Fee And Security Deposit

Step 4 & 5: Document Verification And Registered Candidate List

Document verification happens online on 25 August, and the Registered Candidate List is published the next day, 26 August. This list confirms whose registration went through successfully, along with fee payment and document submission.

Step 6: Provisional Merit List

Also on 26 August, the Provisional Merit List is published. This is your position in the overall ranking, based on your registration and documents, before any corrections are made.

Step 7: Grievance Window

This is your one chance to flag any mistake in the Provisional Merit List, and it closes fast, by 11:59 PM on 27 August, just one day after the list is published.

An important rule here: no correction will be accepted without supporting document proof. So if you spot an error, you can't just write a complaint; you need to attach the actual document that supports your claim. Keep your documents ready in advance so you're not scrambling to find them within this short window.

Step 8 & 9: Final Merit List And Seat Matrix

The Final Merit List, incorporating any approved corrections, comes out on 29 August. The Seat Matrix, the list of available seats across all participating colleges, is published on the same day. Both of these together set the stage for choice filling.

Step 10: Online Choice/Preference Filling

Window: 30 August to 1 September, up to 5:30 PM

This is where you rank the college and course combinations you'd like to be considered for, in order of preference. Take your time with this — you have about two full days, so there's no need to rush through it on the very first day it opens.

Step 11: CAP Round 1 Result

Your Round 1 allotment result is declared on 2 September 2026, telling you which college and course you've been allotted, if any.

Step 12: Physical Joining

Window: 3 September to 7 September, up to 5:30 PM

If you've been allotted a seat, you need to physically report to your allotted college within this window, with all original documents and the required admission fees.

A specific and important rule applies to how you pay this fee: fees must be paid through Demand Draft (DD). Payment by cheque is allowed only on bank holidays, and even then, the cheque has to be replaced with a DD on the very next working day. If you fail to submit the DD by the next working day, your admission can be cancelled, and you'll be responsible for that cancellation yourself.

Rules On Reservation Categories

If you're claiming any reservation category, there are a few things you need to take care of:

Declare your category clearly in the application. You need to specifically claim your reservation category in the application form before submitting it.

Keep your supporting documents ready. This includes your Caste Certificate, Caste Validity Certificate, and Non-Creamy Layer Certificate, wherever applicable, and these need to be available within the prescribed time.

Good news for OBC and SEBC candidates on Caste Validity Certificates. As per a Maharashtra government decision dated 2 July 2026, candidates belonging to OBC and SEBC categories have been given extra time to submit their Caste Validity Certificate, up to six months from the date of CAP registration, instead of needing it immediately.

EWS candidates need a specific certificate. If you're claiming EWS reservation, you need a valid EWS certificate for the academic year 2026-27, issued in the format prescribed by the Maharashtra government specifically.
