    Introduction

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) has released the Round 2 schedule for Undergraduate Medical Admission Counselling (UGMAC) 2026, covering MBBS, BDS, B.V.Sc. & A.H., and B.F.Sc. admissions in Government and Private Medical, Dental, Veterinary, and Fisheries Colleges across Bihar.

This round brings a few important updates, new colleges added to the seat matrix, and specific rules depending on whether you were a "Freeze" or "Float" candidate in Round 1. If you're planning to take part in Round 2, here's what you need to know before you log in.

Bihar NEET UG 2026 Round 2 Registration Dates

    Counselling Activity Date & Time
    Round 2 Registration Starts 12 September 2026
Last Date for Registration 15 September 2026, up to 11:59 PM

    Additional Colleges And Seats

Based on a Health Department letter dated 10 September 2026, three new colleges have been added ahead of Round 2:

    • Sriram Janki Medical College & Hospital, Samastipur (Government)
    • Government Medical College, Chapra (Saran) (Government)
    • Kurma Sanskriti Medical College & Hospital, Kurma, Jehanabad (Private)

In addition, the Board has added some seats across various Private Medical Colleges. The updated seat matrix reflecting all of this was posted on the Board's website on 11 September 2026. If you're filling or editing your choices for Round 2, it's worth reviewing this updated matrix properly, since these are genuinely new options that weren't available in Round 1.

    What's Freeze And Float?

This is the part of the Round 2 notice that trips up the most candidates, so it's worth slowing down here.

If you participated in Round 1, you were likely marked as either a Freeze candidate (locked into your allotted seat, generally not looking to change) or a Float candidate (kept in the running for a possible upgrade in later rounds). Round 2 treats these two categories quite differently.

If you're a Freeze candidate who wants to continue with your Round 1 seat: You don't need to do anything extra, provided you've completed document verification without any discrepancy, taken admission, and not resigned within the scheduled period. If all of this applies to you and you haven't given consent for Round 2, you'll simply be treated as an admitted candidate; your Round 1 admission stands.

If you're a Freeze candidate who wants to participate in Round 2 anyway, you need to log in with your NEET UG 2026 Roll Number and password and give your consent to participate. You can edit your previously filled choices, but you cannot remove or delete your Round 1 allotted choice from your choice list; you can only swap its position among your other choices. You won't have the facility to edit your Application Form data in this case.

If you're a Float candidate: You may edit your previously filled choices for Round 2. If you don't edit them, your seat allotment for Round 2 will simply be processed based on your previously filled choices as they stand.

If you resigned your Round 1 seat (Freeze) or withdrew it (Float), or were marked Free-Exit, and you want to participate in Round 2, you'll need to log in and fill fresh choices, since your previous choices become "Null & Void." If you don't do this, you won't be eligible for the Round 2 seat allotment process. Since you're filling fresh choices in this situation, you'll also have the option to edit your Application Form data if needed.

If you weren't allotted any seat in Round 1: You may edit your previously filled choices, and you'll also have the facility to edit your Application Form data.

A Detail Worth Watching For: What You Can And Can't Edit?

There's a specific restriction worth being clear about. During editing or correction of your Application Form data, you will not be allowed to change: your Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Domicile Qualification (DQ), Mobile Number, Email ID, Proof of Identity, and Identity Number.

These fields are treated as fixed identity details tied to your original application. If something here is genuinely incorrect, that's a different kind of issue from routine editing, and it's worth reaching out to BCECEB directly through the helpdesk rather than trying to correct it through the standard editing process.

Also worth knowing: if any editing or correction you make triggers an additional fee requirement, you'll need to pay the full Counselling Fee and Security Deposit afresh. Your previously paid amount will then be refunded back to you through the same payment mode you originally used, so this isn't a case of paying twice with only one refund; both are meant to be settled properly, but it does mean an extra transaction cycle to keep track of.

If you're a Freeze candidate giving consent to participate in Round 2, that consent is authenticated through your login password along with an OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email ID. Make sure both are accessible to you during this window, since you'll need them to complete the consent step.

Who Should Pay Attention To Each Stage?

Fresh candidates: if you didn't apply earlier, registration and application-cum-choice filling is open to you from 12 September, with the final deadline of 15 September, 11:59 PM, including fee payment through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

Candidates who already applied and want to give consent for Round 2: this window runs from 12 to 15 September, but closes earlier in the day, at 10:00 PM rather than 11:59 PM. Don't confuse this with the fresh registration deadline.

Candidates resigning or withdrawing their Round 1 seat: this specific window is 12 to 13 September only, a much shorter period than the other deadlines, so this needs to be handled early if it applies to you.

All eligible candidates:— regardless of category, the Rank Card is published on 17 September, and choice filling/editing/locking closes on 18 September, 11:59 PM. These two dates apply broadly across the board.

    What To Do Right Now?

Figure out your exact category first — Freeze admitted, Freeze wanting Round 2, Float, resigned/withdrawn, or not allotted, since your deadline and available actions depend entirely on this.

If you're resigning or withdrawing your Round 1 seat, do it within the 12–13 September window, since this period is shorter than the other deadlines in this schedule.

Review the updated seat matrix carefully, especially if you're interested in the three newly added colleges or additional seats in private colleges.

Complete registration, consent, or fresh choice filling by the deadline that applies to your category — don't wait for the last day, especially since some deadlines close as early as 10:00 PM rather than midnight.

Lock your choices by 18 September, 11:59 PM, keeping in mind that this is a separate, later deadline from registration/consent.

Keep your login credentials and access to your registered mobile number and email ready, since OTP-based authentication is required for consent.

Don't attempt to edit fixed identity fields like your name, date of birth, or identity proof through the standard editing process; reach out to BCECEB directly if there's a genuine error here.

    Documents You Should Keep Ready

    • Round 1 allotment order or resignation/withdrawal confirmation, as applicable
    • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates
    • Domicile Qualification (DQ) proof
    • Category certificate, if applicable
    • A valid government photo ID
    • Recent passport-size photographs

    FAQs

What's the difference between a Freeze and a Float candidate in Round 1?

A Freeze candidate is generally locked into their allotted seat, while a Float candidate remains in the running for a possible upgrade in later rounds. Round 2 rules differ significantly between the two.

I'm a Freeze candidate happy with my Round 1 seat, do I need to do anything for Round 2?

Not if you've completed document verification without discrepancy, taken admission, and haven't resigned within the scheduled period. You'll be treated as an admitted candidate without further action.

Can I remove my Round 1 allotted seat from my choice list if I'm continuing as a Freeze candidate in Round 2?

No. You can edit and reposition your other choices, but you cannot remove your Round 1 allotted choice from the list.

What happens if I don't edit my choices as a Float candidate?

Your Round 2 seat allotment will be processed based on your previously filled choices as they currently stand.

What if I resigned my Round 1 seat and want to participate in Round 2?

Your previous choices become Null & Void. You'll need to log in and fill fresh choices to be eligible for Round 2 seat allotment.

Can I change my name, date of birth, or identity details during Round 2 editing?

No. These fields cannot be edited through the standard Application Form editing process during Round 2.

    When does choice locking close?

18 September 2026, 11:59 PM, this is separate from the registration and consent deadlines.

When will the Round 2 provisional allotment result be published?

22 September 2026, with the provisional allotment order downloadable from 22 to 25 September.

    Final Thoughts

Bihar's Round 2 counselling schedule packs several different deadlines into a short window, and which one applies to you depends heavily on your Round 1 status: Freeze, Float, resigned, withdrawn, or not allotted. Take the time to identify your exact category before assuming which rule and deadline is yours, and pay particular attention if you're resigning or withdrawing a Round 1 seat, since that window closes earliest, on 13 September.

With three new colleges and additional private college seats added to the matrix, it's also worth reviewing your options fresh rather than assuming Round 1's seat matrix still tells the full story.

If you're unsure whether you're a Freeze or Float candidate, confused about what happens to your Round 1 seat if you participate in Round 2, or want help reviewing the updated seat matrix, reaching out to a trusted NEET counselling expert can help you make the right call before these deadlines close.
